I Finally Did It!

I have been talking about starting a blog for sometime now, but never took the time to actually do it. It wasn't hard, but I still have a lot tweaking to do.

As most of you know, Scout celebrated her first birthday on June 1st. I wanted to dedicate my first post about her birthday celebrations since this blog is primarily about Scout.

First, here is a picture of Scout's birthday invitation:

Scout's first birthday party was a little over a week early. It was held at World's Fair Park on May 23rd. It was a beautiful, but an extremely hot day, especially for the end of May. It was luau themed and turned out really nice with the help of great parents and a couple of wonderful friends. Scout, on the other hand, didn't get to enjoy her special day. She starting feeling sick just before the party started. I, of course, thought it was due to the heat, especially since she is "hot-natured", but turned out to be a viral infection. Since Scout was sick, she didn't get to enjoy her smash cake, the fountains, opening present or anything. :( I guess we will make it up to her next year. :)

Here are some pictures from her party:

Since we celebrated Scout's birthday early, we wanted to make her actual birthday special. Our day started with her Birthday Photo Shoot by Megan Parker Portrait Studio. We went to Norris behind the Lenoir Museum. Here are a few of my favorites:

After the photo shoot, we came home to eat lunch. After that, it was time for a nap! Scout normally naps by herself, but it was her special day, so we napped together in my bed. Well, she napped. I held her, admired her, snuggled her, and cried as I reminisced and reflected over the last year. I couldn't believe how fast it went by. I can't believe how much she's grown! I had no idea, as parent, how hard it would be to watch your little one blossom. It's bitter sweet.

After her nap, we went outside so she could eat her BIG cupcake. I made it especially for her to dig into since she didn't get to enjoy her birthday smash cake at her party. Here are a few pictures:

As you can see, she really enjoyed it! The evening of her birthday, we met family and friends at Cheddar's for dinner and to enjoy Abby Caddaby themed cupcakes.

That wrapped up Scout's special day and she thoroughly enjoyed it! Here are some pictures:

This wraps up my first post. I am sorry it's so long. I had a lot to catch up! Make sure you visit my blog frequently for new updates. I hope you enjoyed!
